We have distinct seasons. While I am more of a warm weather lover, our colder months have beautiful days sprinkled throughout so that outdoor activities can be enjoyed throughout the entire year.
We have diverse landscape. Mountains, Midlands, Coastal all within a short drive. We have rivers, lakes and mountain streams with an abundance of waterfalls.
The growing popularity of the Upstate as a place to live has brought people from multiple nationalities which diversifies and expands opportunities to learn about other cultures.
Even with the growth we still have a maintained our Southern hospitality and neighborly helping hand to those around us.
Growing up in the mountains of Georgia I think I took the beauty surrounding me for granted. As an adult, I now have a renewed appreciation for all that the Upstate area has to offer. It is a tenuous balance between providing homes for our growing population and maintaining the natural resources of untamed land for many generations to come. One forward step in maintaining this balance is the 47 SC State Parks, half of which are scattered throughout our region.
I love that I can attend a ballet in Spartanburg, a Broadway show in Greenville, a musical concert at numerous locations, go to a baseball game, hike a mountain, kayak a river, go out on a pontoon boat, go camping, go swimming, ride a bike on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, eat at a 5-star restaurant or from a mom-pop food truck.
